Awakening
With Bettina Rothe and Soasis Sukuweh
August 23 - 28, 2009

The 5Rhythms® are a physical and spiritual dance practice that offers us maps for self-discovery and a path to Awakening.
In this practice we cultivate body awareness, which in turn opens the heart and frees the mind, so that the spirit can soar.

If we can accept the life that we ourselves create, we meet each challenge as an opportunity for growth.
When we allow each ecstatic experience to transform our pain - whether it be mental, emotional or physical pain,
we become the embodiment of compassion and have the juice we need to live creatively right Now.
Then every moment is an Awakening.
Now is the moment.
Choose to be awake.

Our intention for this workshop is to create a safe and sacred
space where moments of Awakening rooted in movement can take place.
Awakening is a shift in consciousness in which thinking and awareness separate, so we can rest in Presence, in the Now.

This is what a participant from out last years' retreat shared about her experience:

"If you want a getaway to nurture your soul this summer the 5 Rhythms dance workshop at Hollyhock is not to be missed.
I first discovered the magic of this workshop 6 years ago and have returned each year, my annual ritual of rejuvenating body mind & spirit . Again this year the workshop will be lead by Soasis and Bettina, two fabulous facilitators who are both at the top of their game and sure to create an experience that will stay with you long after you leave. 5 Rhythms is dance anyone can do - all it requires is to show up , be present, and a willingness to tune in to yourself while moving your body. The music selection is sure to be great, and often includes a session of live drumming and didgeridoo. The land & location - a stunning ocean front setting backed by an ancient forest and a large beautiful garden - all adds to making this workshop a real treat. " JULI REES
