Lori Goldberg
I recently received an e-mail from a potential participant in my upcoming Hollyhock in Vancouver workshop "Painting Beyond the Ordinary".

This is what it said:
Hello Lori! Thanks for the information about your workshop. Can you give me more information about what's happening at the art workshop? Thanks, Ilona

Hello Ilona - Sure I would be happy too.
My intentions is to use the act of painting and drawing as a way to deepen your connection to yourself through creative explorations engaging as many senses that we can access.

So listening, feeling and using your sense of smell to evoke creative responses. Music will be played to inspire your muse. Exploring objects through touch and responding using visual language.

What does the scent of lavender or the smell of freshly baked bread evoke visually? This is an example of a creative process exercise that I will be exploring with you.

I also will be developing your sense of observation, by working from the abstract to representation. Active meditations and memory/recall exercises will assist this process.

You will produce work that will be on paper and canvas. The work produced will be evocative and meaningful to you and to the observer.

The intention after the weekend workshop is that you will have more tools and experience to engage with your ordinary existence of the everyday world.
