Hollyhock Presenter, Paul Stamets was recently awarded the Society for Ecological Restoration: Northwest Chapter (SERNW) President's Award.
Announcement:
The SERNW 2010 President's Award has been awarded to Paul Stamets, mycologist. Paul has pioneered the field of mushrooms as a tool for restoration, championing their importance to soil fertility and bioremediation. He has discovered and described four new species of mushrooms, and invented many techniques in the field of edible and medicinal mushroom cultivation. He has written six books on mushrooms, and has authored many articles on the ecology of mushrooms and their environments. His work is highly significant to the field of conservation of the ancestral strains of mushrooms endemic to the Pacific Northwest.
SERNW Mission Statement:
The mission of the NW Chapter is to promote ecological restoration to restore and sustain the diversity of life in the Cascadia Bioregion, respectfully reconnecting cultures and ecosystems.
